Calçots and calçotades

Calçots and calçotades

Calçots (a variety of tender, elongated onion typical of Catalonia) were born in Valls and today are a gastronomic ritual: They are cooked over charcoal and served with romesco sauce, along with a long table and a festive atmosphere. The season runs from autumn to spring, with “calçotades”—popular dishes in local farmhouses and restaurants, including Cambrils and Salou, where they are abundant.

An ideal plan for families and groups who want to try authentic flavors and pair them with wines from the Tarragona, Montsant, or Priorat DOs.
